About Mobberley

Mobberley

Mobberley is a large and scattered village between Knutsford and Alderley Edge. It is reputed to be one of the largest parishes in Britain. The main part of the village is located near the site of the former factory of the famous Ilford photographic company and there are community buildings and village shops here. The village was the home of George Mallory, who died attempting to climb Everest in 1924, and may have reached the top long before Sir Edmund Hillary. There are many fine houses and old halls around the village, along with reputable restaurants and inns, and it is (extremely) close to Manchester Airport.
