The Welcome
In recent years the Alderley Edge and Knutsford Methodist Circuit took the initiative to launch 'The Welcome Centre' project for the purpose of serving the diverse needs of the Over Ward (Longridge) Estate on the fringe of Knutsford. A shop and drop-in centre have now been established, now managed by Mike Fisher and under the pastoral charge of Rev Ben Clowes - supported by a team of lay-volunteers.
The Welcome Centre provides a wide range of community development programmes, availability of practical and counselling support, fellowship, constant coffee and cakes - also, opportunities for worship and prayer.

Hello from the Welcome
Empty Coffee Mugs.
It seems only a few weeks ago that I was standing in Hunslet Methodist Church in South Leeds conducting my final Service. I had decided to finish as I meant to go on and set up a café-style meeting with tea, coffee and cakes.
A Report on the 'Welcome' from one of our Volunteers
Although you may already know something about the 'Welcome' you may not have a full picture of what or where it is. Let me fill you in on this dynamic project that the Lord has blessed so richly over the eleven years that it has been in existence.
The 'Welcome' is a 'not-for-profit' café situated at the end of a run of shops near to The Falcon Bearer Pub on Longridge. It is the 'building' component of The Over Ward Project that also includes community-outreach work and social support. The prime objective is to facilitate the opportunity for local residents to enhance their well-beings through social and learning activities.
